NB: Look over to the left for the baby's due date / how many weeks' preggers I am

Birthday Eclipsingness

It's my birthday on 10th July, but the baby is due on 7th July. Indeed, given that I know when I ovulated and therefore probably when I conceived, I'm pretty sure the baby is actually due on my birthday.

Therefore I've been unable to make any birthday plans, cos I may be heavily-heavily pregnant and awaiting a birth with baited breath, or in labour, or recovering from a terrible birth, or relaxing with a babe in my arms all blissful and happy, or pacing the floor with a baby that won't stop crying... too many variables. Will not compute.

It's a bit sad though.

So can I recruit some of you into putting my birthday into your diaries and coming here on the day to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY! or ringing or texting me if you know me well enough to have my number, or even sending me a card, or doing SOMETHING to remind me that I am a separate person with a birthday all of her own, as well as a mother-to-be?

Thanking you kindly.

I'd love to tell you that it was going to okay ... but instead I'm going to tell you my story.

My dates said I was due 1 April. Hospital dates said I was due 30 April (yes, yes, I know, I have ten month pregnancies ...I did it with both kids.) So for husband's birthday on April 18th I booked tickets for The Beautiful South, since we were at Hull Uni where The Housemartins orginated from. My mother told me I was a fool and that would be when the baby came. My mother's not known for her Rosie lee fortune telling skills so I told her I'd got seats (we weren't dancing in the aisles) and then ignored her. This, after all was the woman that told me giving birth was like podding peas...

Anyway to cut a long story short, she was right. Waters broke the day before, and I gave birth to Son half an hour before curtain up to the Beautiful South.

Son was 14 last April and I'm really not sure what Husband would say about sharing all those birthdays. I think he's just pleased we don't have 25 toddlers/small children throwing jelly and ice cream around. I don't think he minds at all. There's always lots of fuss going on, and lots of chocolate cake!

Good luck.

My younger daughter was born on my birthday. I'm sure she held on deliberately. It's not so bad. In fact it's rather good because celebrations just go on longer!

(And jj and I share a birthday too!)

I thought my son might be born on my birthday, 30th June, but he popped out 4 days later. I'm already planning our joint 50th/18th birthday in 2020!

and

Sounds good to me!

As for joint parties... hmmm... when baby's 21, I'll be 60... and I was just saying I was looking forward to 60!
